For a Great Cause
A Star Studded Livestream "Telethon" for St. Jude
Dear Cornfield Subscribers and Supporters:
I’ve been a cabaret performer and director for decades in New York. It’s a great community of loving, supportive artists and musicians. For the past two years, my dear friend and collaborator Goldie Dver has produced and hosted a big holiday benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital—and this year’s is the biggest and most exciting yet!!
Next Thursday, December 11, over 30 of New York’s most dazzling stars from Broadway, cabaret, and jazz take the stage with The Season: Goldie’s Kids! Performed at the beautiful Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York, our homage to the legendary Jerry Lewis MDA telethons will be live-streamed as well! Check out the incredible lineup of talent (below)! I am honored to be directing this incredible event, all proceeds from which will benefit the children of St. Jude and their families as they battle childhood cancer and other diseases.
My old friend John McWhorter generously plugged the event in his New York Times newsletter, and I am so grateful to him! John is an accomplished singer and pianist in his own right—I attended the premiere of his show featuring the lost Fats Waller musical, Early To Bed, and it was fantastic (and will be back at the Triad Theatre in NYC!). Thanks for the plug, John:
One more thought: In the vein of the Fats Waller cabaret show I wrote about a few weeks ago, the third annual iteration of “The Season,” a lollapalooza of a cabaret show, is on Thursday. The M.C. is the New York City cabaret veteran Goldie Dver, and it offers not four or even a dozen but more than 30 of the city’s cabaret stars doing their magic. Plus, it’s a benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Chase the winter blahs away with a telethon’s worth of great music for a great cause.
Please join us on DECEMBER 11—Red Carpet kicks off at 6:30PM! You can purchase tickets to attend the show at the theatre, or for the livestream, at this link. You can also go right to Goldie Dver’s dedicated fundraising page at St. Jude and make your generous tax deductible donation!! Every little bit helps to give hope to some deserving kids at the holidays! Thanks for your support!!
